Where do University of Graz employees get professional and confidential support if they experience challenges or conflicts? Meet: Ines Kuhta Karabelas of the Confidential Service for Conflict Resolution and Psychosocial Counseling for Employees!
Ines, who works alongside Regina Lammer, has given us an interview!
"I work as a mental health expert at the Confidential Service for Conflict Resolution and Psychosocial Counseling for Employees at the University of Graz. We support staff, groups, and teams in challenging or crisis-like situations, helping them reflect on their situation, manage conflicts and tensions to develop solutions to restore balance and health in both professional and private spheres. Our counseling is strictly confidential, free of charge and available in German, English, Slovenian, and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian."
"We offer a safe space to talk about conflicts and challenges in everyday research work and to address power imbalances and dependencies in supervisory relationships and project structures. Last but not least, we also support researchers with specific issues, such as emotionally challenging research topics. Through close cooperation with units such as the Research Career Campus, we ensure coordinated support for researchers – for team/group leaders as well as for all other team members."
Ines says about herself:
"I am a psychologist specializing in organizational and work psychology, with a longstanding focus on psychosocial stress and mental health in the workplace. I have experience in employee assistance programs, multilingual counseling, and occupational health projects in cooperation with employers. I am convinced that employees need a trustworthy point of contact that can provide 'first aid'. I am pleased to contribute to mental health and psychosocial support in the workplace, having seen firsthand how valuable these services are for both employees and organizations."
